I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Precision Plant Molecules
Interview
After sending my resume, I got a reply in less than an hour asking to come in for an interview the next day. It came off very rushed and desperate.
I went in for the interview and the owner didn't even introduce himself so I wasn't sure if he was the owner or and R&D manager or someone else. He asked me inappropriate questions for example "how do your parents feel about you applying for a cannabinoid job" ...I am a grown adult woman. This isn't a job hiring people in High school or College so to ask that was very odd. He also asked me why I think my previous job hired me and I explained my background and skills that got me the job and he responded "oh so you just sweet talked them." Keep in mind this is an extremely small company and there is no HR so these types of interactions would be on the regular and no way to stop them since it's the owner.
As I interviewed with a few other employees who were all nice, the owner remained in the room in the corner listening in. I didn't feel that I could ask any of the employees their thoughts on work-life balance, culture, etc. because their boss was listening in. They did insinuate that they work long hours. The tip of the iceberg was touring the lab/warehouse area. I was shocked by how little safety precautions were taken. They didn't have fume hoods and were working with chemicals in an open warehouse on countertops. I asked about this and they said they have 1 fume hood (which wasn't being used by staff as I saw all of them working on the open countertops) but that they also have respirators. I would not want to wear a respirator for 8 hours a day in order to be in a safe environment. Also, I only saw one employee wearing a respirator so they must just not care. They also wore their lab coats in the interview with me that were visibly VERY dirty and we were in a chemical free space.
He also told me the name of another person they interviewed from my company which wasn't cool. Luckily I was close with that coworker, but that information should stay private.
He offered me a second interview and I declined.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me about my experience with HPLC because that is the main instrument they use. They don't have an NMR on-site and if they need an NMR they test it externally.
The employees were extremely nice and helpful throughout the process. It was personal and lacked a stuffy corporate feeling. The company structure seemed like a promising one. They showed me the lab and it was all very impressive
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Precision Plant Molecules (Denver, CO) in Feb 2021
Interview
They asked me a question on Indeed, then scheduled an in person interview. They did not follow up after the first in person interview. At the in person interview I sat with their production manager and talked. Then I got a tour of their lab and the interview was done. I didn't get a chance to say ask many questions during the interview.
