      Sales Engineer Interview

      21 Jan 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Proofpoint

      Interview

Proofpoint has a very good interview process. Everything starts with the recruiter. After the recruiter I talked to the hiring manager to make sure we are on the same page what the job would require. After talking the the hiring manager you'll go through a technical screening which was basic email and network security questions. After this you'll talk to other team members before you get invited to visit their campus. The onsite interview is great. You'll present the solution via some homemade slides and answer question in a mock meeting. Very helpful to understand what you get ask in the job as well as it shows the team how you respond. After this I only quickly synced with the hiring mangers manager to make sure we are a good fit for each other. That's pretty much it. Not too difficult if you know your stuff. The recruiter was really outstanding on this one and always kept me in the loop and answered questions instantly

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Proofpoint (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2024

      Interview

I did not make it past the HR phone screen, but the recruiter I talked to was very personable, very open with sharing information, and very responsive to any questions after the initial phone screen. Based on conversations I believe the rest of the interview process would have been very positive.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Proofpoint in Jul 2015

      Interview

Submitted resume directly to company, weeks later got a call from Sue an in house recruiter. She was awesome to work with. Had 20 minute call with her, she setup a 1 hour call with an SE manager, after that has a 1 hour call with a SE assessing my technical abilities especially how it relates to network security and email (heavy on the email). Next had a 3 hour onsite interview. Met with a Sales manager, (45 minutes) an SE manager who I gave a live demo to (where he asked technical questions related to what I was presenting) then a Director of Sales Engineering who asked typical background questions. Next was a background check and work history verification check. Then finally got a call from the SE manager and received an offer letter. I really wanted out of my previous company so I didn't negotiate (it was more than I was making)
