I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Qatar Airways (Doha) in Jan 2024
Interview
Panel interview - Asking questions randomly apart from JD. Requirements were not clear from there end. Expectations were not clear. Even after asking details to them it was not clear what exactly they want out of that interview.
I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Qatar Airways (Doha) in Apr 2019
Interview
( General experience )
Applied directly online and was given an automated response indicating interest in my profile. Their HR coordinator contacted me to arrange for a phone interview - I provided a few timeslots ( kept in mind the time difference ). Phone interview was with the team that I had applied for. All went well and was given an email advising of next steps - i.e. onsite interview in Doha ( all arrangements taken care of - flights, visa, hotel). They gave me business class seats - the travel was amazing ( superb service ). Arrived at the airport ( amazing airport as it was first time in the country ) greeted by their guests services and transported to hotel ( which was literally adjacent to the interview site ). Had enough time to rest / have dinner and be refreshed for the interview. Interview was next day - they sent driver to pick me up ( ride was less then a minute to the interview location ). Greeted by HR and waited in the lobby for about half hour. Called in for interview by a small panel ( HR / Area managers ) - interview lasted for about 1 hour : traditional interview, nothing out of the blue. Once interview wound up, was given Qatari Rials for food / transportation / entertainment as standard to ensure all have comfortable stay during interview. Had enough time in the day to explore the surrounding areas to understand living standards in Qatar - was a really great experience. Flight was the next morning ( again business class on return flight ). Did not hear back for about 2 weeks so I emailed the recruiter - was sent an automated response of not being selected.
( Overall feedback )
Was such an amazing experience - it was truly a first class interview process : everything was arranged so nicely. Really was disappointed of not being selected for this particular role but was a wonderful overall experience ( probably the best interview experience i've come across)
( Some Tips )
* Keep in mind that there is a time difference ( so when you give your availability, go according to Doha standard time )
* Provide your interview timeslot in 24 hour clock format (i.e. 13:30, 01:00)
* Keep in mind that the weekend in Doha starts on Friday (i.e. Friday, Saturday) - Sunday is a working day there - so when you decide on timeslot for interview it would be Sunday through Thursday.
* Look up things to do in Doha on your visit -- you may have a day to explore your surroundings -- that way if the interview winds up early, you can at least explore the country and have an idea of life like in Doha should you land the opportunity ( beautiful upcoming destination )
* Be sure to have international mobile capabilities during your stay ( for uber, eating out, exploring your surroundings via maps ) - while the hotel is nice, you may get restless staying in one place for 3 days straight
* Download google offline maps during your stay there ( to avoid getting lost or if your network connection is not working - that way know where the interview facility is / hotel )
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Can you describe business process improvement ( specific examples )?
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Qatar Airways (Doha) in Jan 2013
Interview
Initial call from a HR representative with general questions about actual role and objectives, while he/she evaluate your personality.
Second interview by skype, included 3 senior managers and a VP, with job related questions. At the end, they invited for a face to face meeting, where one is submited to a pratical and tough scenario examination.
Overall process took 5 months!!! Unfortunately is quite typical in the company, specially if you're running for a managment position and moving to Doha.
