      Customer Service Representative Interview

      6 Sept 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at RBC in Jul 2013

      Interview

The hiring and interview process was different for myself than most. My resume was forwarded by a former Senior VP to a current regional VP. I was contacted within 2 weeks and an interview was scheduled for the next week. The Interview itself was very calm and relaxed atmosphere. It was with 2 of the regional VPs who were friendly and made me feel at ease. The interview was straight forward and consisted of 3 equal parts. First I talked about myself, both personal and professional, and what skills I could bring to RBC from my previous experience and education, Secondly I was asked questions, specifically regarding previous customer service and sales skills, about RBC & its core values, and which role I felt I was suited for. There was also a mock customer interaction/sale with one of the VPs. Finally I was given the turn to ask questions to the VPs. I asked questions regarding the culture at RBC, what a successful first year would be and the VPs personal careers with RBC have been. The interview took about 30 minutes, and was a positive experience. I went on vacation and the next week hadn't heard anything, so I emailed one of the VPs about my status. They called me the same day and gave me the good news that an offer was being extended to. They said my interview went quite well and that the standouts for them were that I took notes during the interview and asked insightful question, which clinched the role in their books.
