I had two interviews. First interview went really well, the staff I was liaising with were honest, kind, professional and quick to build rapport. In the first interview I felt confident to perform my best, which led me to performing my best in the interview. The second interview was with two different people. One of these was a General Manager. The tone of this interview was very different. Not conversational, very brisk, cold and avoidant communication style. I felt completly thrown from the difference between the two interviews and it impacted my ability to perform to the best of my ability in the second interview. My feedback to Rest Super would be to ensure that in interviews you are creating a space for candidates to bring them best selves to a role, and if a certain type of communication style is expected (i.e. extremely brief, compact answers) then it should really be briefed with candidates ideally before the interview, or at least at the beginning of the interview. I understand that a GM has worked hard to get to their position, but if you are not open to listening to different types of communication style, especially for a relationships management role, you are going to loose our on candidates that have something non-cookie-cutter to bring to the table. The hiring manager / HR representative who I worked with was lovely, and cannot recommend her more highly, it was just the difference between the two interviews that was extremely jarring, and not aligned in terms of consistant communication style from one interview to the other. My recommendations to others interviewing here, do not expect consistant tone, cadence, interview questions, length from interview to interview, as these seem to vary greatly depending on the most senior person in the interview, and how the like to approach questions.
