      Account Executive Interview

      25 May 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Robert Half in May 2010

      Interview

I was contacted by a sales manager from Robert Half, who said he wanted to meet with me in person the next day to discuss an opening on his sales team. Upon arrival at the office, the receptionist was overwhelmed by many people in the lobby, and asked me to take a seat for a few minutes. I was finally called up to the front, and was given a lot of detailed paperwork for fill out in a conference room. The paperwork took about 30 minutes to complete, and I think it would have been a better use of time to have e-mailed it to me ahead of time so that I could have it already filled out. After paperwork was complete, I was told to wait in the conference room to wait for the sales manager to come in. Instead, his boss came in and interviewed me, since the manager I was supposed to meet with was "running in a million different directions", and would be in shortly. After I met with the sales manager's boss, the initial sales manager I was supposed to meet with from the beginning came in and talked with me, and by this time, two hours had passed since I entered the office. I thought it was a bit unprofessional that the process was not a bit more streamlined. The interview itself was not difficult at all. I was mainly given the open invitation to ask any questions I had about the position, and hardly anything was asked about me regarding details of my background or qualifications to do the job. I knew that the job was not for me when I was told that a typical day involved 70% of work hours being devoted to phone calls, and only 30% spent on in-person appointments, all for an average first year income of around 50-60K. I was told I could schedule a day to shadow a sales rep if I was interested in moving forward, but I declined.

      Interview

Long but good conversations and engaging. You spoke with about 5 people from different teams. Felt a bit repetitive considering they asked the same questions. Asked about background, motivations, long term career, etc.
