Interview process for the Data Engineer role involved a technical interview that focused mainly on fundamental and definition-based questions related to core data engineering concepts.
In addition to theoretical questions, I was also asked to demonstrate code I had written for ETL pipelines. While I presented relevant production-level work and explained the implementation, there was limited follow-up discussion to explore design decisions, scaling considerations, or architectural depth.
The interview remained largely structured as direct Q&A, with minimal deeper discussion on the presented projects. During the session, there was also a brief interruption where the interviewer mentioned connectivity issues, after which the conversation did not continue in depth.
The evaluation felt more focused on theoretical knowledge than applied data engineering or system design. The process concluded with a standard rejection message indicating they moved forward with other candidates.
