All technical first round recruiter are over smart and immature, they will question you and if you answer them then they will tell you answer is right but they want some other way what they like. Interview is about answering you and not the way you are expecting the answer . Both way will give you same output.

Interview was majorly Algorithm based and some core java concepts. Senior interview in 2nd round had no idea about algorithms and could not understand solution which was different from what he read even though both had same runtime complexity. And got offended on asking what is the difference between the solution he had and I implemented.
