Interview
I applied for the role of a Graduate Software Tester at Siemens Molecular Imaging online. The first part of the screening process was a phone interview, which went over my academic and work experience. After this, I was invited for an assessment day at Siemens' Oxford offices.
We were required to make a presentation about the current state and future of medical imaging. Since this was a software role, we were also asked to talk about a significant project, e.g., dissertation project we worked at university. This presentation was attended by engineers and managers from different departments within that business group.
There were at least ten candidates at the interview, so we were split up into different groups for the following activities throughout the day:
- A group design exercise, where the group had to design a business plan for urban development in a locality, along with projected costs and construction plans.
- A skills test on how to read software testing documentation, identifying errors in them, and writing a software testing procedure manual.
- An interview with the department manager, which went mostly over professional skills and experience.
Overall, the experience was fun. What I found though that the decision-making process on the outcome of the interview was quite slow.
