      Customer Success Manager Interview

      1 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Sovos (New York, NY) in May 2023

      Interview

I usually don’t bother giving reviews on Glassdoor because my past experiences with other companies are not negative. However with Sovos it was “something else”. Let me start with: Please read the reviews on Glassdoor. These reviews don’t lie! I have been in their interviewing process since May and it was pretty disrespectful the lack of communication and feedback from the team. After 4 months between back and forth broken communication they told me I wasn’t the right candidate for the position. My advice for you is: Do not waste your time preparing and studying this company! There are thousands of other organizations out there that care about their potential candidates and give them at least a decent chance to show case their background and knowledge! I was told by a recruiter that Sovos was struggling with churn and that communication between customer success and customers were broken. Well, it probably has to do with the way you treat your employees! Customer success is the front line of your business and the consideration you give to them will reflect in your customers. Start take this into consideration!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience, and I want to personally apologize for any communication issues you encountered during the process. I’d like to clarify a bit about the timeline, as the Customer Success roles we’ve been working on were opened at the end of May. However, I completely understand how frustrating the process must have been, and I want to offer some insight into what occurred. Churn has been a challenge for us, and hiring for a new global Customer Success Manager role has been a key priority. Unfortunately, we didn’t get it quite right at the start. Sometimes, as we begin a search, the role evolves based on the changing needs of the business. This, along with the onboarding of a new Director, did slow things down more than we would have liked. When roles shift, it occasionally leads to some candidates being placed in a difficult position, where expectations and requirements change. While this is never ideal, it can happen as we refine what we’re looking for. I agree that the candidate experience is extremely important, and we always aim to provide timely and accurate updates. However, we are a lean team and, being human, we occasionally make mistakes. I sincerely apologize if you felt strung along during this process. If you have any further feedback or would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. We truly wish you all the best in your continued career journey. Sarah Doucette VP, Global Talent Acquisition

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sovos in Feb 2025

      Interview

Had to do a personality screening after applying and then had interviews with a recruiter and the hiring manager about a month later in the same week. Both were very welcoming and transparent about the role and expectations of the process. Both mentioned news on "next steps" to come before going ghost and ignoring my follow-up. I get the market's bad but it's disappointing to get no response at all when the first impression of the company was initially so good. It's a shame. Do better!

      Interview

One interview round with their recruiter located in Latin America with zero subsequent follow-up regarding next steps about the application. Bizarre as you would think modern technology automates rejection letters.

Thanks for leaving your feedback. You are correct that we do have technology to automate rejections letters, but often when we speak directly with folks the team tries to follow up with feedback directly. We try our best to personalize the experience. Occasionally, that leads to the automation part not happening. Our system is far from perfect, and we are working on enhancing it, but it's a work in progress. I do want to apologize that you did not receive follow up, certainly an error on our part. If you would like to discuss further, I'm always happy to chat directly! Sarah Doucette VP, Global Talent Acquisition

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Sovos in Mar 2024

      Interview

I had a virtual interview with Sovos Latin America (Chile) on 03/18/24 with the recruitment executive. The interview went well during those 30 minutes, we had a lot of affinity, she gave me all the required information, and answered all my questions. At the end of the interview, when I asked the recruiter "how the process would proceed," she told me that she would contact me the following week if I advanced to the next stage. That same day, she sent me a personality test which I completed immediately and confirmed via email. The weekend passed, and unfortunately, the recruiter did not keep her word. The following week, she did not respond or follow up after the test. A few days later, I wrote to her via email but did not get a response. I also messaged her privately on LinkedIn and received no reply. Weeks later, I asked again and ultimately fell into the "ghosting" zone, which was quite unfortunate, uncomfortable, and unfair. The conclusion of all this is that they played with my time, but I learned that even large and well-known companies like this one have cold, unempathetic processes that leave much to be desired. If anyone checks the official pages of this company, you will find information claiming that the process for the candidate is fair and complete, a message that is 100% false. It's unfortunate, but thanks to Glassdoor, I can share my negative experience here so that others are aware or on alert.
