      Sales Role Interview

      9 Jul 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at State Street (London, England)

      Interview

State Streets process is long, arduous and lacks any form of communication. If you are looking to move jobs quickly this is NOT the place to send your resume too. Save yourself the stress and anxiety there are better places to work. I applied online and 3 weeks later received a request to interview in person at the London office. I was asked for my immediate availability however HR came back and gave me a date 2 weeks away, people are busy I have no issues with this part of the process. The day of my interview everything went well, getting great feedback on my ‘sales pitch’ in the room is always useful. I asked about the process and next steps and was told that they would feed back to HR accordingly. This is where the process went downhill for me and similarly others that I know have applied for roles here. HR is abroad, so expect calls from India or Spain. They are absolutely useless so do not expect to be wowed by a responsive HR representative. 3 weeks after my interview and still buoyed by the positive feedback I received I decided to do a telephone follow-up to show my continued interest in the role and to find out what the score was (I knew they had interviews over a 2 week period after me). Every phone number I tried I either got no answer or those that did answer were unable to help me or cut me off. I followed this up with an email and received the blanket silence you would expect. It seems that those at Managing Director and Executive Director levels have forgotten what it’s like to be a candidate, the ones I saw got to their roles through longevity and because their friend hired them respectively. To put it into context for you I started the same process with JPM and Blackrock all at the same time and they were able to get me through 4 rounds and to offer stage in a month. They did eventually contact me to ask if I was still interested and if I wanted to come back after 5 ½ weeks – time wasters of the highest order with no regard for talent.
