I interviewed for a senior VP-level role and had an initial conversation with an in-house recruiter. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations for a position at this level.
The compensation structure was a significant concern. The base salary aligned more closely with a Director-level role, and there was no clear upside through bonus or commission, which is highly unusual for a VP position and made the overall package feel misaligned with the scope of the role.
Additionally, the interview itself felt fairly disengaged. The recruiter’s approach came across as lackluster, with limited energy or enthusiasm, which made it difficult to get excited about the opportunity or the company. While I understand that the current market gives employers a strong position, the candidate experience still plays an important role in how a company is perceived.
Overall, it was not a particularly positive experience, and it left me with reservations about the organization. I hope this feedback is helpful in refining both the role positioning and the interview process.
