The application process is fairly structured but can feel repetitive at times. It begins with submitting a CV alongside a lengthy online application form, which unfortunately requires re entering much of the information already detailed on your CV. This can be a bit time-consuming and feels unnecessarily duplicative.
If your application is shortlisted, the next stage is typically a telephone interview, which focuses on your experience, trade skills, and understanding of health & safety protocols. If successful at this stage, you'll be invited for an in person interview, which may include both competency based questions and a discussion about your practical plastering experience. Depending on the role, they may also ask for a trade test or examples of past work.
The overall process aims to assess both your technical skills and how well you fit into the council’s values driven, public facing team.
