I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at TIAA (Pune) in Feb 2018
Interview
Attended the interview in Kharadi, Pune office for TIAA GBS.
The process starts with a thorough introduction to TIAA and GBS. Which includes a presentation from the HR and the Technical Head. It is informative and helps create a mindset for the new fairly new player into IT.
Next is a Written test. With 2 questions and Yes, poor performance in it will result in getting screened out.
After the written test you are dispersed for Lunch(arranged by TIAA) and post lunch you'll get the result for your Written test.
After this you will have to wait for your technical rounds to start. There is no hard and fast time lapse that can be assured but my wait was about 4 hrs.
1st tech round involves questions related to your approach for the 2 Questions you attempted in the written test(so be good at the approach you used) and some basic JAVA/Hibernate questions.
One good example is VOLATILE keyword. Asked in depth about it.
Not much waiting after this, the other rounds will follow quick(because most won't make it past the 1st)
2nd round is more inclined towards Enterprise Application Development approach.
Which framework and why. Why not the alternative.
Core Spring questions and JAVA Questions on Prototype and Singleton .
Multithreading and Executor framework is also a reoccurring topic.
After this there is the Director round, where you are tested mostly on the Behavioral aspect. Questions like :
Why TIAA? Why a change? What's your expectations? What were your Responsibilities in the last assignment?
Advice: Don't open your "money/salary expectations" card here. You have the HR round for it. Because if you come out as "Money driven" then this round can result in Rejection.
Next is the HR round, Here the salary discussion and the tentative joining dates are discussed. They also reemphasize some of the benefits of joining TIAA (which you already know from the morning presentations).
They have a long process but finishes in a day.
Best of Luck !!
Interview questions [6]
Question 1
What is immutability in real life and how is it implemented in OOPS?
I applied online. I interviewed at TIAA (New York, NY) in Jul 2025
Interview
Both comprehensive and thorough, the team was good to work with throughout. Long process from start to finish but good HR department. More of a get to know you in the first phase, second phase a bit more finite in questions. Technical questions came up throughout but were not the ultimate emphasis, if you interview well you will likely get bumped to the next round where the interview is with three to four members of different groups who ask very different questions. Then after that process, you will have two final interviews with the group heads and they ultimately have to give you the okay.
Start with resume short listing then HR round then lead analyst round then assitant director round then HR round for discussion on compensation. This is the process for interview at tiaa.
I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at TIAA (Denver, CO) in Jan 2024
Interview
The interview process started off well, but the company as a whole continued to post multiple jobs daily during a job freeze that lasted over 6 months. Doesn't seem very honest or transparent to job seekers or employees.
