      Native English-Speaking Teacher Interview

      29 Jun 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Teach Taiwan in Jun 2024

      Interview

You are sent the potential interview questions beforehand to review, so there's that. Scheduling times are not at all convenient or flexible if you're already living and working in East Asia. The interviewer was absurd in her level of detachment and robotic delivery. At times I thought I was talking to a deepfake A.I. bot instead of a real person, as she read the interview questions to the letter, including the questions with very obvious grammatical errors. I would be surprised if she ever taught before, as she couldn’t answer simple questions about the the number of different classes Native English teachers could potentially be tasked with, or with what school curriculum might look like. Keep this in mind when you take the interview. The person on the other end is an administrator, or someone in human resources, and probably has little understanding of education in the practical sense.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you consider teaching in Taiwan instead of your own country? What else do you think you can provide to the school other than teaching English to the students? How do you usually motivate your student? (This was read by the interviewer exactly as it's written.)
