      Customer Service Assistant Interview

      7 Sept 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Tesco in Aug 2016

      Interview

My interview was on a Friday When I arrived I approached the first member of staff and was told the manager was around the corner and to go see him. When I reached the manager he was stood discussing with another member of staff saying how he had 8 of us to interview and that the successful ones would be doing induction training on the Monday as they no longer have to wait 4 weeks like the old days. I was taken to a small back office to wait with another member of staff as he put me at ease and was honestly lovely. The manager then showed me up to the interview room and we discussed my experience at another supermarket. He asked various questions that he wanted me to give examples of. One of the T's&C's of applying is that you have to commit to the hours advertised which I could do but then asked what other hours I could do I made it clear I could do the hours advertised as they were suitable for my situation and I could do any school hours available but not weekends hence why I applied for the hours I did as they didn't include weekends. I was then taken on the shop floor and asked to help replenish stock from the delivery they had received I was there for just over an hour. The manager then called me bac up to the interview put on his best grin shook my hand and said thank you for coming we'll email you in 7 days. So I knew straight away I was unsuccessful due to the earlier conversation he was openly having on the shop floor that successful candidates would be offered the job so they could start training two days later. I received an email on the Thursday stating I had been unsuccessful and I was gutted but now have a job elsewhere that pays a whole lot more!
