I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at The Boston Foundation (Boston, MA) in Apr 2023
Interview
HR phone screening was very weird, not a conversation but just me speaking while they type away on their computer. Then, I had an interview with the manager and two current associates, which was easy and friendly. Then two more interviews, one with the Senior Associate VP and then one with the VP/CPO which were also easy and friendly. Ultimately they ended up just never giving me a decision on my candidacy as they were “still interviewing other candidates” which was upsetting as I spent 4 hours of my time interviewing for this company. I didn’t really appreciate being strung along until/if they could find a better candidate.

Question 1
Nothing special, just questions about goals, experience, etc.

Interview
Was contacted for a 40-minute interview. Asked basic questions but the interviewer was rude and seemed bored. I was asked by research experience and she said that she had no idea what I was talking about when I described quantitative skills. She asked me to spell "Excel." Seemed like I was talking to a recruiter who knew nothing about the company but it turned out she actually worked for the Boston Foundation! I told her about fellowships I did with respect to income inequality and she asked me to explain "real research" I did. This is one of the most negative experiences I had and I find it hard to believe a company as prestigious as the Boston Foundation did such a poor job.
