St Manager, Inventory Planning & Replenishment Interview

      18 Oct 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA) in Sept 2011

      Interview

I first applied for the position online in mid-July. At the beginning of August a received a phone call from an Human Resources representative asking me the usual screening questions. I passed that interview and was scheduled for a phone interview with the hiring manager. Passed that one too and was asked if I would be interested in coming to Atlanta for an onsite interview. Arrangements were made for the onsite interview to take place the Friday leading into Labor Day weekend. The flight, rental car and hotel reservations were made by Home Depot and everything went very smoothly. The onsite interview consisted of interviews with three department heads and one peer - the hiring manager was out of the office that day (not a good sign). The final interview was with the peer and she walked me out, an Human Resources representative was not available. The Tuesday following Labor Day I contacted HR and forwarded my expense report and receipts. At that time I was told to expect reimbursement in 2-3 weeks. I also sent all my thank you notes. That Friday I followed up with Human Resources for an update on the hiring process; no response. Two weeks after the interview I contacted the hiring manager for an update. No response and no reimbursement check. Five weeks after the onsite interview I still had not received any update or check so I contacted Human Resources again. Within one hour of that email, I received a proforma, anonymous email indicating I was no longer being considered for the position. No word on the reimbursement check. The following day I called Human Resources and left a voice mail regarding the reimbursement check. I received an email in response indicating it was 'hung up' in payroll and if I didn't have it by October 17, I should let my contact know and a check would be Fedexd to me. Guess what? No check on the 17th. Contacted Human Resources and no response. It's now been 6 weeks since my interview. I was not given the courtesy of a phone call to let me know I was no longer being considered and I'm still waiting for the reimbursement of my expenses. Pros - They are incredibly efficient on the front side of the hiring process. Offices are beautiful and they make a terrific first impression with the gift of a leather notebook and gift card. Cons - Post-interview process is awful. No feedback and I'm still waiting for reimbursement of over $100 in expenses. Might not seem like much to a multi-billion dollar company but when you are unemployed, it means something. Overall, I'm glad I wasn't hired.

      Question 1

No difficult or unexpected questions. A very routine interview process.
