The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Cape Coral, FL) in Mar 2012
Interview
Filled out application on company website. Was called by retail staffing and phone interviewed with standard five questions most retail companies are using now about describing times when you helped customers in other jobs and people in your life and solutions you came up with. (be ready for that). Had interview #1 in store with mid level supervisors / leads (2) with same standard 5 question robot quiz, then had interview #2 with store manager days later who asked my goals in the next 5 years, and further, why did I want to work for Home Depot, etc. Took drug test and had to call repeatedly though to get orientation/hire date which took about 2 weeks to get. Overall a fairly decent experience. The people there (non-management) seem miserable, but low pay retail and scheduling that revolves around how much your dept. sales vs. how many hours you get to work is to be expected with a so-so attitude about working there I guess. I'm just happy to have been picked to have a job and a chance though and will be happy as such.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Describe a time when you solved a problem with a customer or family member? I think this was the question almost...
More questions similar to question #1, just worded differently. Alot of companies are doing this standardized test, so once you do it, it will be redundant.
20-minute interview, asked scenario-based questions and experiences with customer service. The interview had a video call component and an in-person interview. The interview had questions about comfort with learning new programs and asked about availability.
it was short and it was simple very quick and they hired me on the spot probably due to needing people and being short staffed, but the staff was nice and polite they did also send me an email before hand to schedule my interview
I interviewed at The Home Depot (Flower Mound, TX)
Interview
Easy....mostly interested in your ability to be regularly on time with consistant attendence. My construction experience helped immensly in my position as Sales Associate in gthe hardware department. I becamr the highest paid associate in that department in just two years with 3 salary increases.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked several questions but due to the fact that I was so over qualified...it was 'how soon can you start".
