      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Saint John, NB) in Jan 2015

      Interview

long process from beginning to end about 3 months. Start with a phone call, then 3sitdown interviews. Normal questions plus some role playing. The interview went well and the staff were really great in asking the questions and listening to the answers. The process was smooth once it started, did not feel rushed

      Merchandising Assistant Store Manager Interview

      16 Jun 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Dallas, TX) in Jun 2016

      Interview

I applied online and about 3 days later I was contacted by a corporate recruiter and did an assessment through him over the phone which took roughly 45 minutes. I was then sent a business acumen and leadership test to complete online and told to do a store walk through by myself and take notes. Once I completed those I was asked to come in for an interview. The interview consisted of a panel of people, two different store managers, the district HR manager, district manager, loss prevention manager, and another HR person. The interview took an hour. All questions were situational based. At the beginning of the interview I was asked to go over my store walk through, they are looking to hear what you look for to get a better picture of how thorough you are. Do your research on business acumen and how to drive diversity in your own team and facilitate diversity within the consumer base. Only complaint I have about the whole process is that it seems that if you don't get the job they will not tell you anything, I called and no answer, I emailed and there was no response. Seems quite unprofessional not to follow up when you say "we will make a decision and get back with everyone that we interviewed."

      Question 1

How would your past experiences translate to this job and how why do you believe you would fit the role?

      Interview

This involved meeting at a store with about 20 other candidates. We all took a written test and based on the scores we were interviewed by other Store Managers. I was offered the position by the Regional HR Manager within 2 weeks of the interviews and test. I declined the offer as I was sought out by another company during the 2 week period.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Baton Rouge, LA) in Oct 2015

      Interview

Very professional. Had brief introductory interview by phone prior to setting up face to face. Store Manager was expecting me and was very cordial and personable. After the obligatory canned questions we had a very relaxed informative Q & A. Allowed for very candid discussion. Although there was a brief delay before the interview could begin, ample time was allowed with little or no interruption. Speaks well for this manager's skills and consideration for applicant.
