      Interview

I am so confused why this company keeps posting positions on job search sites that are not actually available. I recently made the decision to attempt to begin a remote career and saw on Glassdoor that Toptal had several full-time positions open that I felt qualified for. I was initially drawn to Toptal’s stated culture and benefits and was so excited that they were hiring. I applied two months ago and heard nothing back, not even a denial for any of the positions that I applied for. After reading another reviewer's experience, I realize that it is very likely none of the jobs I applied for were even available. As of this moment, if you look on Glassdoor, there are 72 jobs “available.” It was over 70 last week and also the week before. “New” jobs are posted every few days. I know they constantly hire freelancers, but many of the jobs listed are internal ones. It is impossible to tell real live positions (if there are any) from false. After digging a bit deeper on Toptal’s website, I found many lead positions already had personnel in place. I think the main staff of the company is comprised of only 50-75 people! Wish I had done the math previously and realized that applying was a waste of time. Very disrespectful and callous of you to bait professional job seekers in such a way, Toptal. I don’t think I would fit in with their culture after all.

We keep our positions open because we are rapidly growing and always looking for top performers. When an exceptional candidate applies and moves forward in our interview process, we’re going to hire that candidate and get them started immediately. Even if we are not actively recruiting for the position(s) to which they applied, we will find them a place at Toptal. We look for talented, committed, driven, and flexible team players, and we’re always hiring.
