I wouldn’t know about the interview process, because I didn’t make it that far. I put in my application on the UPS jobs website, completed the online assessment, and passed. I received the congratulations email that stated I was hired, and let me choose my start date. I chose today. I received a phone call from an HR representative two days ago, who gave me general information, asked if I had any questions, and confirmed my start date and time. I received a reminder email yesterday that confirmed my start date and time. I showed up 15 minutes early, 2:45am, and the place was not even open. I waited in the parking lot about 45 minutes until the dispatcher arrived, who told me to come back at 5:20am which is when the preloaders start work. I came home, went back at 5:20am, and was told by the preload supervisor that she did not know who I was, or what I was talking about. She said she had just laid someone off, and they don’t need any help right now. So basically, I’ve been excited and had my hopes up for the last two weeks, this being my first job offer since the pandemic, just to be told to turn around and go back home, that there was nothing they could do. To say I am highly frustrated is an understatement. I emailed corporate and am waiting on a reply. This is totally unacceptable. A complete disaster of a company. With HR and management like this, I now understand why so many of their drivers are incompetent and deliver packages to the wrong address on a daily basis. Not to mention how long a package sets at this one location before even being touched, much less delivered. With the thousands of packages they pass off to the United States Postal Service for them to deliver for UPS, you would think they would take all the help they could get!
