I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at US Navy (New York, NY) in Jan 2015
Interview
There was no interview process. You sit at MEPS all day to hurry up and wait, and then ship off to bootcamp. The closest to an interview process is when the MEPS recruiters ask very intrusive questions and prod into every significant and insignificant detail of your life to ensure you're not a russian or chinese spy.
It was incredibly easy, had to swear in, pledge to the United States, go to boot camp, lean my job, then get stationed to perform my job with efficiency and intentionality
Show up to the recruiters office, score high enough on the ASVAB, then choose your rate (job). You will report to a MEPS station to process you in and make sure you are medically and legally able to serve.
Walked into recruiting and had to pass asvab, physical. After that went to basic training then A school and C school. After that finally went to my squadron. They say you can select your duty station but you cannot.
