I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at US Navy (Ann Arbor, MI) in Sept 2012
Interview
You had to take the ASVAB and get a certain score to get the list of jobs you were qualified for. Make sure you research all the different rates and know which ones that you are interested in and what they actually do. Do not go in blind for the rates and pick one that will make you happy and will help you when you are done with the Navy.
You take an aptitude test that leads to what the Navy thinks you are capable of as far as job placement. Depending on how high your score on the test the more technical the job. Scoring high allows for you to gain the most as far as options to choose from job-wise.

Question 1
The test asks questions regarding simple and complex problem solving, math, science, and English skills.
You take the same test that all recruits take. A decent understanding of all 10th grade level subjects will probably get you the max score. Take a few practice tests first. Choose your rate, choose your fate are words to live by.
