I applied online. The process took 8 months. I interviewed at US Postal Service (New York, NY) in Aug 2015
Interview
Applied, took an assessment for a test date, passed. All this was in January. I wasn't offered an position until the end of July. Went to my Interview beginning of August (BE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EARLY, THESE ARE CATTLE CALL INTERVIEWS).was in a space of about 100 people, Did paperwork, was told what the job would consist of for about 2 hours. Then came the interviews. They didn't ask nothing crazy, just went over my application. If your background check, drug test and employer verification checks out you have the job. Just wait for them to ask you for something through fax. You get a job according to your score. E.G: if you live far and you score high chances are your getting placed near home. Now if you live far and get a low passing score, chances are they putting you where ever they want.
