      Ramp Agent Interview

      11 Nov 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Denver, CO) in Oct 2018

      Interview

I applied through Glassdoor - filled out application and did an assessment. received an e mail a few days later inviting me to an in person interview. Super exciting!!! There were instructions on what to wear and what to bring with you for the interview in person. Bring Multiple ID’s, resume/cover letter and dress professional. Look the part! Even though it’s a ramp agent position - you want to look professional - be the brand! Upon arriving to the United Training center in denver, we signed in, waited in the cafeteria and then were brought to an auditorium to sit and hear some important United employees discuss who they were, what role they had with United and how long they’ve been with the company. After that, we saw a video about the job with United and went through a couple slideshows! Very informative. I took notes. Then we had a brief break to use the restroom and when we came back we broke for one on one interviews. (It was a long process though. I got to the training center by 745am - auditorium stuff began around 830-845.... and then once my interview was complete i left around 130pm....) When my name was called I introduced myself with a smile and the lady brought me into another room where multiple other one on one interviews were going on as well. We discussed the position and if i was aware of the duties and responsibilities. Then we jumped into 6 behavioral situation questions. Pretty straight forward and a nice rapport broke the ice. However, i was told to bring multiple copies of my resume and cover letter and no one ever asked for it. I also asked if they needed it (in person) and they said they didn’t. So it’s better to be prepared but just FYI. Upon completing the interview she scored me and told me i passed. She brought me upstairs to fill out paperwork and do fingerprinting right away. I signed a contingent offer letter from United - given I pass all the testing and checks, i will have an official offer! I was thrilled. Everyone was super nice and it was a fairly quick process. About 30 minutes after my interview was done (and paperwork process begun), i could leave for the day. I did my drug, hearing and vision test the following day (it was mandatory, obviously). And then 10 days later i did my physical agility test. There was a video to watch to know what to expect and instructions to follow to prepare. Then you had to complete all USPS and FAA paperwork within 48 hours as well so that was a lot of information to complete and paperwork!! But totally worth it and I felt like i covered all my bases in filling it out. For the physical agility test it was at a physical therapy place and everyone was super friendly and helpful. The test itself was difficult but not awful. Definitely put your all into it. They let you practice a bit to get acquainted and then you begin. The next week after my physical test i received an e mail saying i didn’t pass the physical test and they rescinded the contingent offer. i could not move forward. Super frustrating but totally understand. I won’t let this deter me from being in the airline industry :) Good luck! Hope this helps!!!
