I applied online on 10/17/15. I was asked to complete an online interview on 10/19/15. The online interview was simple. I was asked 5 or so prerecorded questions and had to record my answers. There are no do-overs, however there are sample questions you can use for practice before you being the actual interview. The questions were the same as the ones others have posted on this site and none of them were particularly challenging. On 10/21/15 I was invited to attend a group interview which I scheduled for 10/26/15. The interview was in Houston, TX. I arrived at the interview early, handed in my resume and was given a name tag. Then I took a seat among other applicants. We were given a presentation and important information about what it takes to be an FA. After that they opened the floor for questions. We were told training would start on 11/16/15. Then, after the Q&A, they began randomly calling back applicants for one on one interviews. I was one of the last to be called. During my interview I was asked a handful of questions and also asked to read aloud a "customs spiel". At the end he asked me if there was anything else I wanted United to know and he asked me about flight arrangements. Then, he told me he would like me to speak with the hiring managers and I was escorted to a room (if you can even call it that... it was just an area separated by a curtain) with other applicants. We all chatted like before and we were called one by one to speak with the hiring managers. When I met with them I was asked about three questions. Then they stepped out of the room for all of about 5 seconds, came back in, told me it was nice to meet me and I should hear back via email in 5-7 days, and I was escorted out. I knew at that point I didn't get it. A friend of mine works for United and told me if you get it, you are asked to do a drug test that day and are offered the job conditional on your drug test results. Apparently sometimes people are actually offered the job via email later, but that is very unlikely. This morning, 11/2/15, I was received my official rejection and was invited to apply again in 1 year from the date of my interview...
In the meeting with the hiring mangers I was asked about tattoos. I was honest. I have a small one on my left wrist. I even showed them that it was covered with makeup. They told me makeup was challenging in their industry. I explained the makeup is waterproof, etc and that I have become an expert at applying it for my job. However, this seemed to be a major turn off for them...
