I applied through other source. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Falls Church, VA) in Apr 2012
Interview
The first round interview was about an hour long call with a screening reviewer. The second round was an hour long call with a hiring manager in the office I was applying to. The third round was an in person interview with nine different individuals from the team I was applying to. The group seemed very collaborative and very much a tight knit team. Almost everyone said one of the things they would miss the most if they had to leave was the people.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked to describe community educational presentations I delivered. After describing these, I was asked if I had implemented the practices I taught into my own life. It was not a question I expected at all, but it seemed like a good way to see if I practiced what I preached. Most difficult questions were when I was asked to describe step by step a research paper I had written, the statistical methods used, whether the results were significant, etc. Although I could remember a lot of the paper I didn't have it memorized, especially two years later!
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Washington, DC) in Mar 2018
Interview
Video interview, followed by on-site interview with 4 different employees. On-site interview was combination of skills assessment and behavioral questions. Also got lunch with a current analyst. Overall, everyone was very nice and this was not an intense interview process.

Question 1
Why do you want to work here?
Writing exercise
Asked about research methodologies and experience with consulting.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group in Feb 2016
Interview
Was contacted by a recruiter one week after sending in my online application. Passed the phone screen, where I was asked a series of yes/no questions and talked briefly about my experience (e.g. Are you willing to work for X amount of money/hours, etc.?).
Things got strange after that. The job description and my recruiter stated that a writing test would be given after an interview with the Hiring Manager. Instead, I received the writing test first. I received an automated rejection email two days later; this was after having been sent info about the company's benefits package, exchanging emails with the Hiring Manager, and being told to prepare for a phone interview.
I never gave an interview; the interview process and job duties were not what I had been told. Was left with a negative impression. I will not be applying to this company again.
