      Senior Consultant Interview

      28 Oct 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Perth, Western Australia
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Velrada (Perth, Western Australia) in Oct 2011

      Interview

The interviews were conducted over the phone/Skype as I was in the UK, and the company is in Australia. Exploring technical questions to cover the topics required was simple enough. Understanding the markets and specific verticals/customers in the region is more tricky if not familiar with it, but usually able to find some common ground from other sectors already worked in. Once satisfied that I was a good fit, and they were a suitable opportunity, it's then on to the visa application process and relocation organisation. It is possible to have all this done in under 1 month, which doesn't give you much time to think, so be prepared and ensure you are making the right move before committing to such a big move.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Typically it is the questions about relocation, such as bearing some of the cost. Also, the uncertainty of stable employment to ensure you can maintain a decent lifestyle in a new country when you are a new hire/newly relocated. Technically, the skills are in high demand, so being a good fit for the role wasn't as difficult.

      Interview

Very informal and relaxed. Immediately felt at ease with the HR lady and the attending manager. Questions were more centred around my expectations and career aspirations rather than my experience. I noted that they thoroughly read my CV.
