      Contract Manager Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Vestas Wind Systems (Bucharest, Bucuresti) in Feb 2025

      Interview

I was preselected based on my CV submission for a position of contract manager, where was required min 5 years of similar experience. I have above 20. Second phase was a kind of AI interview, with few questions, where during a limited 3 minutes time was required to give an answer. Was a preparatory phase and I could re-start the answers for each question before to submit it, but I read on net that AI analyze each step, delay plus face gesture, etc. so is better to do it smooth, After this stage, I received a call from a jr. recruiter, very nice but apparently not showing too much involvement, asking some stereotypical questions: why I consider to be suitable, about my expertise (this after the AI interview with dedicated questions for this position) and most important, how much I do expect for as salary for this position, per year and gross. Even I had requested to get a proposal, the answer was firm, that I must submit a value of what I expect, per year and gross. Usual in any company is discussed and reviewed how much is the net, and in a company as Vestas as I know and I read about, is considered a salary fair based on skills, years of experience, position, etc. So after reviewing the wages for similar positions and years of experience, I had submitted a gross salary per year, estimated and based on gross calculation templates I found on net for the salary. I have mentioned that is a proposal, estimated and I am open to negotiations , waiting for a counter-proposal. After more than I week, I had received a call from the same recruiter, where I was told that my proposal is far away of their budget (like 1/3 more) so is no room for negotiations or counter-proposals so my application was rejected as I ask too much, and this is the final decision of her management. Here I have some comments: 1. why Vestas make differences in the salary offered in some countries vs. others, as they say that they say they have a policy everywhere, based on position, years of experience, etc. 2. why they do not make a proposal of salary and if they ask candidates to submit their expectations , then they do not make any counter-proposal? Sounds quite unprofessional and opportunistic: if a candidate asks too much is rejected due to budget constrains, so looks is asks less than allocated budget is accepted and makes savings for employer? Anyhow, my general opinion is that Vestas wants to implement a professional recruitment procedure, maybe works in some countries but definitely not here.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

AI questions are related to position. I.e. for contracts manager position one question was what I shall do when I receive a contract.

      Question 2

What are my yearly gross salary expectations.
