I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (Mechanicsburg, PA) in Jan 2010
Interview
My sibling worked at Wegmans at the time and told me it was a good place for a first job. I decided to apply with his recommendation and was called back the next day. A week later, I met with the hiring manager. She was a very sweet woman and we hit it off very well. Anyway, after a few basic questions, she told me I was hired. She said there were no cashier jobs open at the time, but they were more then willing to let me work in other departments for the time being. Apparently you are allowed to work all over the store in many different departments if you get hired. I said that was fine, and she set up a 2nd interview with the supervisor of the cafe.
A week later, I had an interview with that supervisor, he didn't seem too interested in me. Asked a lot of questions, such as if I had any experience working in food service, I said no. He then let me know he wasn't interested in training, so I had another interview set up with the floral department. The supervisor of that department was very sweet and seemed like she was willing to train. Asked a bunch of simple questions and informed me that I will be hearing back from her. A day later, I got a call regarding orientation.
