      Sales Interview

      25 Dec 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Wolters Kluwer in Oct 2009

      Interview

Initially a Staffing Consultant for WK contacted me, interviewed me asking about my experience. Then I spoke with a Recruiter at the company which asked the same questions. I moved onto having a phone interview with 2 of the hiring managers and another person who was part of learning and development on a conference call where they asked me about my experience, examples of where I helped in team situations and also things I enjoyed and things I didn't enjoy, my strengths and weaknesses. What I like with my current role at time and why I was looking to make a move and how I thought I would be a good fit for the role I was applying to. I then had an in person interview at their location with all three of the managers sitting across from me at an old table. The room was very cold, the building and interior was very dated and my first impression of the location was not all that great compared to my past experiences in the corporate world, but I didn't want to make the error of 'reading a book by its cover'. Though the managers seemed nice and friendly, the third person sounded more like an interrogator than an interviewer. I wasn't contacted after that for some time when I expected to land the job as I was approached by them and had the perfect prior experience to be successful for the position. I was called back months later, asked if I was still interested and had 48 hours to make up my mind. I called within 24 hours and then was told that the director made a decision and it was too late.... Then I got a call back the next day and was asked if I was still interested and said yes and was sent the acceptance package. I was a little turned off by how poor the communication was and how I tried to uphold everything I could on my end, but then they made a decision before giving me the opportunity to give them my answer as they said they would. Gave me the impression that they were not all on the same page, and didn't care about the interviewers/hirees in giving someone a certain amount of respect in this process. This was my experience, and not necessarily everyone else has had the same experience, but it said a lot to me and I should have listened to my guy instinct form the beginning as it proved to be correct all along. It wasn't a company I would recommend or want to grow within and work for in the long run as there was a lack of respect even during the hiring process.
