I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Yelp (San Francisco, CA) in Sept 2012
Interview
I was referred for the Account Executive position by a friend who worked at Yelp. There was an initial phone interview with basic sales questions. They asked things like "what motivates you?" "why do you want to go into sales?" and "why yelp and what you knew about the position?" I was asked to come into the office for an in person interview. I was interviewed by three different sales managers with different styles. Each had me do a mock sales exercise. Be prepared to sell their advertising and to overcome obstacles like someone who wants to advertise in the yellow pages instead or who doesn't have money to spend on the advertising program. They want you to be quick, persistent and outgoing. The last manager asked me to sell him my favorite product. Overall a pretty easy interview process. I realized after the interview that sales isn't for me.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yelp (Austin, TX) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was pleasant from start to finish. It included a recruiter phone screen, a video call with the sales manager, a role play exercise, and the opportunity to implement the manager’s feedback.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One question they asked during my interview was what specifically about the role made me feel it was a strong fit for my background and experience.
The interview process with Yelp was a very organized experience. From the first email after I put in my application, to the offer extension call, I always felt well informed and included.
It was a one time interview over video call with a pre call before. One on one with a training manager. Pretty simple not too hard at all. Lasted 30 minutes with questions and role plays.
