I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Zalando (Dublin, Dublin)
Interview
Quite simply one of the smoothest interview processes I’ve been through. I was referred to Zalando by an existing employee, and after that I was sent a warm intro message on LinkedIn from a Zalando tech recruiter. We pinged back and forth via LinkedIn until we arranged a time that suited for a conversation over the phone, which I guess was a type of screening call for both sides. That call was my first ‘real’ introduction to Zalando and I must say it instantly put me at ease that I had made the right choice in beginning this process. We talked about my history, my interests and what I was looking for in my next move, the recruiter was also extremely forthcoming with information about the proposed role and general culture at Zalando. Expectations were set on both sides and I was keen to progress. The next stage was an onsite visit and chat with the person I would report into. This was another positive experience. We talked in more detail about my history, dived into some tech stuff, talked about the team and I was given a much broader picture of what the challenges/opportunities this role would bring. I was also given a brief tour of the office which helped paint a more fuller picture of what life would be like at Zalando. The final stage for me was a half a day on-site visit which consisted of 3 interviews with different stake holders. This again was a positive experience in general. I met with a VP, a peer and a technical architect, so all 3 interviews were different and challenging in there own right.
Overall I was delighted to have been offered the role, but unfortunately for me I had to decline for personal reasons. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact Zalando again in the future to kick start a new process if my situation were to change.

Interview
The interview has no direct relation to the quality of mismanaged work you would be doing. Its a completely different outlook once you join. HR is more like a paperwork team.
