I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Zendesk
Interview
Recruiter, panel, and final interview with hiring manager.
My recruiter was awful... she only responded to questions when it regarded scheduling next steps. The panel was fine but they all seemed unprepared for the interview. My final interview with the hiring manager was strange because he was focused on prepping for another meeting and asked really flat questions and didnt seem to care.
I applied through other source. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Zendesk (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
The interview process was straightforward. It was five rounds: the sourcer, recruiter, hiring manager, a colleague, and their superior (Director). It took a long time to break through the gatekeepers and gather momentum. Once I met with the hiring manager it went quickly from there.

Terrible experience from start to finish. The morning of the interview, I happened to check my email to see that I had received an automated turndown from Zendesk, worded in a way that I had already had my interview and they simply weren’t moving forward with me. Considering the first interview wasn’t going to be for a few more hours, this was unusual. I contacted the recruiter who was supposed to be calling me to ask if this was a mistake, which he assured me that it was and there were still openings he thought I’d be great for.
The screening interview was pretty straightforward, with a few general questions and then explanation of the role, compensation, and what the rest of the interview process was. With the way it was phrased, the recruiter made it seem like I would get through the rest of the interviews easily with my experience and credentials, and that he would reach out the next day to set up the second interview.
It’s been almost two weeks now, and I never heard back. I emailed the recruiter to check in after a week, and still nothing. No call, no turndown, not a single bit of communication. For a job that requires excellent communication, they are definitely lacking in that area. Super disappointing considering I really thought the company would be a great one to work for.
