      I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at commercetools in May 2020

      Interview

      Interview process started alright, fill out a short questionnaire on their website and then have a short phone interview booked. Upon completing the first phone interview, I was presented with a technical task and customer service task. The technical task is where things got out of hand, they want to set up a brand new store using their tools and using REST APIs and you have around 3-4 hours to complete it. However, the instructions are very barebones and assume far more knowledge of how their product works then anyone would have when first joining the company. Ultimately, I was unable to finish the technical task due to an issue with their system and the data that was imported. However I could not figure out the issue because the documentation on their knowledgebase is extremely disorganized and not user friendly. I understand wanting to test applicants on their skills but having a task that uses the software and utilities that you would be trained on with minimal information on how to complete the task is the wrong way of doing so.

      Interview

      The first contact was via email. They asked me 3 questions: when could I start, if I needed a visa and salary expectations. Then, they asked me to either have a Hangout call (video conference) or a phone call. As it was the first call and it was with a recruiter, I was not expecting technical questions, but there were. The recruiter told me that the second step would be to talk directly with the manager. Then, the last step would be to solve a case study (such as an incident to see how I approach a reported problem). However, I did not arrive to these last steps.
