Role Overview

We are looking for a Backend Intern who is passionate about building scalable systems and solving real-world problems through technology. As part of the technology team, you will work closely with experienced engineers to develop and maintain the backend infrastructure powering SaveSage's products.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and APIs.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs to support web and mobile applications.
• Work with databases to design efficient schemas and optimize queries.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to implement new features.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Debug issues, troubleshoot production problems, and improve application performance.
• Implement security and data protection best practices, especially for financial data.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering processes.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go.
• Understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture principles.
• Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Knowledge of Git and version control workflows.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Eagerness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Good to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of authentication mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth.
• Interest in the fintech domain and building secure, user-centric products.
