Pros

Benefits, “inclusive” environment where they will respect your pronouns but not your desire for work-life balance, they will say all the right things, at least

Cons

classic boomer small business - low-level skill in management makes it pretty easy to do your job because they don’t know how to do your job. They will never get a solid crew of carpenters because they are too interested in running a 2m gc like a corporation, so it’s a turn and burn operation and a vanity project for the owner, who pretends to be woke for their own interested but will absolutely gaslight, straight up fabricate complaints and mostly will passive aggressively find an employee to blame for the company’s issues when the company’s being run by a narcissist. They told me I needed medication when after 2 years of being subjected to feeling like I was responsible for their success I had an huge panic attack while they cornered me and subsequently fired me for not complying enough even though I hadn’t had a panic attack in 20 years. They offered 0 comfort or assurance or even medical care while they caused this panic attack and honestly I regret not walking out and directly into an employment lawyer after this- their reaction was absolutely sadistic. I regret every thing I ever did for them and 3 months after being fired I am still personally hurt by their behavior. I would deeply not recommend working for them if you are at all a caring person. They were insulting, cowardly and still are, to this day.
