Pros

Great entrepreneurs in the team, highly motivated and very well versed in their areas.

Cons

The CEO is very egocentric. Talks all day about the value of building ‘platform business models’ but his own business model is a linear consultant agency. Very poor value on his employees with an exception of 2 or 3 higher managers.

Pros

The company pivoted a few years ago from doing straight app development to its focus on platform innovation. From some of the reviews here, it looks like some employees may not have had great experiences at the 'old' Applico. But none of these reviews seem like they represent the company today. Having worked at Applico for more than a year, I have had a great experience here. I get to work with world-class entrepreneurs (including people that have raised equity capital or exited for 9 figures+) and work with clients ranging from Fortune 100 to Fortune 10. Compared to other places I've worked, I've gotten much more responsibility, opportunity and room for growth here. If you want to work with entrepreneurs, learn what it takes to launch a business or work on projects that have the potential to alter the trajectory of huge industries, you will get all of that here. Turnover looks like it might have been higher in the past, but since I've been here it's been very low. Employees are passionate about the work and seem happy. Everyone works hard. The company is growing quickly from what I can tell (hiring is a big priority, strong pipeline of clients), so there's a lot of growth potential here as the team scales up. I honestly wouldn't want to work anywhere else right now.

Cons

If you don't like travel, that can be tough. A lot of work is done at client locations.

Unstable environment, No merit to any of their grandiose claims.

Pros

A real "trial by fire" work place, where young, inexperienced professionals can get thicker skin through the many difficulties and failures they will experience here. Once upon a time, there was a small chance that some interesting projects would come in the door, and wrap up with something both the client and the team could be proud of.

Cons

It only takes a quick glance at the see-saw of 1-Star / 5-Star reviews to realize something odd is going on here. Most recent positive reviews are fabrications. I wouldn't be surprised to see another glowing review following this one. This company is incredibly superficial. The value of Marketing and Biz Dev is greatly disproportionate to everything else. Promises to help clients build "Multi-Million dollar, industry disrupting" companies are thrown around casually (though not once achieved). Once that client is in the door, it's on to the next one. It doesn't matter if the in-house team cannot realistically fulfill the expectations set by the sales pitch. If a deadline is approaching, and the project is a complete disaster; it's nothing that a few extra hours won't fix. Worst case, maybe a squarespace solution can put things back on track, because "who cares, right?". The CEO is the kind of guy that would probably become fast friends with Martin Shkreli. He knows what he wants, and doesn't care how many employee's backs he needs to step on to get it. He'll cheerfully asks you to spend your personal time researching business tactics of successful companies to add to the sales pitch (it's not optional). He'll step in midway through a project after being totally absent, and scrap everything. Re-doing everything within the same timeframe is someone else's problem. He surrounds himself with those who share his passion for the facade, and tolerates everyone else, as long as they stay quiet on the periphery.
