Can be overworked quite a lot

This business and store in particular do not care about their staff. They will completely disregard your health and wellbeing. Promised confidentiality regarding serious concerns will not be honored. They will even gossip about serious concerns with other employees and stores while promising you confidentiality. They will knowingly put you in harms way, and they do not abide by the constant training modules they are required to do regarding bullying, harassment and whistleblowing. They also do not uphold the company’s ‘values’ in the slightest. HR is not on your side and will only assist in damage control on their end. They will protect perpetrators in order to retain staff over protecting genuine victims. They will also promise to manage serious concerns only to not address them at all and provide no repercussions for the people who seriously breach the code of conduct. If you do decide to work here, do so with caution and if you experience something similar, go directly to fair work instead. The assistant manager is particularly untrustworthy and manipulative. I was also asked by said employee if it’s okay to lie about a legal document (my resignation) because it paints them in a bad light and outlines how poorly they treated me. This is after she coerced me to come forward with my concerns in the first place under the impression she was doing the same alongside me in order to create a safe and comfortable work environment. I later discovered that she did not come forward at all and used me as a scapegoat to try to get another employee fired while keeping her own hands clean, blatantly breaching my promised confidentiality since she did not have her own to worry about despite assuring me otherwise. I was thrown under the bus, treated poorly, manipulated by positions of power, disrespected and let down. I was forced to resign as the work atmosphere was so painfully toxic and genuinely harmful. Again avoid at all costs and do not trust HR or upper management either. You are completely on your own in this workplace. This is barely even a summary of what you could potentially experience here. The pay is also terrible. Do what you will with this information.

The theft. It’s quite high and is so hard to deter. Stores have cctv and do prosecute and file police reports daily. It’s the most disheartening part of the job. Company policy is in the best interest of the staff.

Low pay, lots of responsibilities

Sexual harrassment, defamation, workplace bullying, systemic underpayment of staff.

Best and Less is a good place to gain retail experience, but long term is not ideal. I experienced frequent staff turn around, which was reflective of the work environment. Constant changes in management, mixed with difficult customers made working at Best and Less very stressful.

Micro management, toxic work environment, no proper training provided, lots of gossiping from management, manager isn’t approachable

No cons at all. It’s a great company to work with.
