Pros

Great co-workers. They are actually doing something to improve the school grade. Moved from a D to a C this year. But when you do everything possible to push extra reading and math work into the schedule, that is to be expected. It's also a great job for Spanish speakers, as the school has a Spanish language instruction program. It's also an at-will employer, so you can quit whenever you want.

Cons

The new Management company treats everyone as if they were non-educators who just started teaching yesterday. They have a cookie cutter approach to teaching that is tailored to people who come from a non-education background and they don't really respect actual teachers, their expertise, or their views on anything. Even when what they want you to do isn't best practice, and everyone who actually understands education would know that it isn't best practice, they won't listen or care. They'll still expect you to do it their way. Not a place to feel valued in your profession. It's more of a place to feel exploited. They will attempt to take advantage of you. Whether it be expecting you to drive to Orlando for trainings, expecting you to work an additional 30 minutes a day (without additional compensation) beyond the normal 8 hours expected by any other school (90 extra hours of work for the year), or piling on extra classes or students to make you work that much more for the same amount of pay you would receive working at any other school, without that extra burden of labor. The attempt to exploit you actually begins from the very start of the relationship with the contract. Even though you are an at-will employee and can quit or be fired at any moment, they put false and unenforceable language in the contract about coming after you for an amount of money in the thousands if you quit before the year is up. It's a blatantly disrespectful attempt to scare you into not quitting even though they can still fire you whenever they want. They should be offering real contracts if they don't want people to leave early, not attempt to trick their employees.
