Cons

I was an On-Site Engineer for Chillblast however I worked at the Bradford branch of CCL computers under their MendIT company. Below are reasons why you should not even consider working for this company based on my experience with them and how I was treated. Unmanageable Workload & Travel: The role required constant, long-distance travel across England, resulting in extreme, often excessive, working hours. The scheduling and workload were unrealistic and often impossible to complete within standard contracted time. Chronic Underpayment: The company has systemic issues regarding payment for hours worked. Despite tracking necessary travel and on-site time, the company failed to accurately compensate for extensive overtime (after agreement from management), forcing employees to pursue legal action to recover earned wages. Manual, Untrackable Time Logging: The process for logging essential work (like overtime and travel) was manual, relying on handwritten documentation rather than electronic systems. This created an opaque system prone to error. Crucially, these handwritten records, which were your personal data and vital evidence, were then omitted from my partial Subject Access Request (SAR) they provided, suggesting a deliberate administrative failure to track and retain records necessary for proper payment and legal compliance. Sustained Legal Disregard & Escalation: The company maintained a rigid, incorrect stance ("it's in the contract there's no overtime") and consistently refused to acknowledge basic UK employment law, forcing the matter to proceed through ACAS conciliation and then to a formal Employment Tribunal. Administrative Collapse & High Court Fees: Despite a legally binding Employment Tribunal Judgment, the company failed to comply with the mandated payment deadline. Their sustained refusal and administrative delay forced me to escalate the matter to the High Court Enforcement Officer (HCEO). This administrative and legal failure forced the company to pay the original debt plus substantial HCEO fees and enforcement costs. This demonstrates a catastrophic financial and legal incompetence that directly stems from a refusal to obey the law. Data Protection Breach (GDPR): The company failed to fully comply with a Subject Access Request (SAR). They selectively withheld critical personal data (including employee-entered system logs of work hours and all e-mail communications) that was vital evidence in the legal process, suggesting a disregard for data protection responsibilities and potential evidence-hiding. Inappropriate Conduct: HR contacted myself multiple times to try and bypass the HCEO once enforcement began, demonstrating a disorganised and desperate effort to avoid the HCEO fees caused by their own delay. All in just a terrible company to work for.
