Poor Management

Pros

Some people are both tolerable to work with and bring a lot of expertise to the table

Cons

This company is plagued by poor management. The CEO micromanages nearly every part of the company, making it hard for employees to take initiative or suggest new ideas. There is no culture of learning or mentorship, and instead of support, employees are often criticized. Analysts are expected to do admin work because the company cannot hire one. Salaries are below market average, yet employees are expected to be available at all times. The company also struggles to maintain strong relationships with its clients. They are often rigid and inflexible, making collaboration difficult. Also, there are no transparent or consistent policies regarding visa sponsorship. They have no intention of sponsoring but mislead employees until the very last moment. Castalia should be upfront about not offering sponsorship during interviews. It’s hard to believe that the CEO is unaware of these issues. The leadership seems to view this kind of treatment as acceptable, despite how unethical it is. Overall, the lack of new ideas, poor treatment of employees, and absence of clear policies creates a work environment that feels frustrating, unproductive, and discouraging.

Cons

Average to poor remuneration Misalignment of bonus incentive Demeaning rather than constructive feedback Up or out culture No HR support staff

Pros

The other employees (analysts, support staff, some management) are what makes this place bearable to work. Your experience working at Castalia largely is determined by which manager or "team" you are assigned to work for. You get exposure and experience from here that you can then use to find a better job with better pay. Management knows this and seeks young, intelligent people to work for them, and they work them hard, knowing that they will eventually leave.

Cons

This company thrives on negative reinforcement. Many feel/felt that nothing they did was ever good enough, and that you are constantly working to prove your worth. The turnover rate is incredibly high. Now instead of hiring analysts, they opt to hire people on as interns to test them out before giving them a permanent position.
