Pros

When I first started, Cineplex had amazing senior management and a great talent pool. The best things about working there were the devoted, hard-working management and co-workers. A common vision was shared - of cooperation, creativity, and pride in the output of our work. You would work side-by-side with your team by day, and go to the theatre to see your work 'in action', so to speak. Work-life balance was highly encouraged; no one demanded you stay past 5. You were empowered to get your work done where and when you wanted, which fostered a devotion and desire to work extra hours, where and when needed. The premiere card was great, allowing you to see VIP movies for free and to play for a few hours at TRR and Playdium.

Cons

Over the course of 2+ years, the following occurred: - "Mystery" departures in which senior management with strong tenure and who you personally knew to be diligent, committed employees very suddenly and without warning decided to "depart for new opportunities". - Being threatened with "significant consequences" if you were caught talking to colleagues about any firings/layoffs/changes within your team's structure, when no transparency was offered as to why those decisions were made. - A new anti-discrimination and bullying policy that HR promptly enacted after several allegations and complaints regarding oppressive senior management. - Within multiple departments, bringing in a new contract hire to "help" full-time employees with workload. Following the full-timer taking that person on and training them, firing the full-timer and leaving all the work (and lower pay) to said contractor. - Witnessing employees being highly-favoured for personality over work ethic and ability. (Re: leadership who puts precedence on your ability to listen to details of their personal life, go for drinks (before and during work hours), organize team events, etc. before tending to your work)

Pros

Flexible hours, nice coworkers, able to train for other positions for more variety.

Cons

That management leash got tighter and tighter to the point I felt like a socially awkward robot. What started off as a great part time job while in school slowly turned into a corporate hell-hole to the point I had to leave. That said, supervisors and coworkers were generally great therefore 3 stars instead of less. Miss those guys and glas.
