Sad to leave due to poorly managed layoffs, but enjoyed working there
Pros
Overall Clipbook is a rewarding company to work at. There is a steep learning curve, but the work is highly engaging and provides a great sense of fulfilment. During my time at Clipbook I have learnt a tremendous amount, both in terms of developing my skills and industry experience - especially as many employees have considerable experience in communications/political campaigns. Virtually all roles at the company are important to ensure business success, with this comes a lot of pressure but also great exposure, especially beneficial for entry-level employees. The is also helped by the number of "high-status" clients (big enterprises/major politicians) Clipbook serve. Probably the best thing about Clipbook's is its culture, it emphasises "Hunger & Hustle" and because of that there are lots of opportunities for employees who take initiative and seek more challenging work. The people are another great aspect of Clipbook, there is a good sense of comradery and this is supported by the company who value (and fund) semi-frequent socials.
Cons
Company has just gone through significant layoffs which could have been much better communicated. There was no notice and many were even promised beforehand that no layoffs would occur. Understand that restructuring is a natural process start-ups (tech especially) go through, but this should have been better handled. Criteria for layoffs very unclear as well. Rating would be much higher (probably 5/5) otherwise. Moreover, there is confusion over HR processes, and like any start-up there could be a more formal feedback structure and better resources outlining Learning and Development.
