Pros

They give you four weeks of PTO.

Cons

There is absolutely no room for growth in this company. Everyone at Determine will stab you in the back to make themselves look better. The CEO is awesome at telling you how great the company is when in reality he is not involved enough to even know where his office is let alone how the product is doing. Upper level executives do whatever they want and get away with it with absolutely no repercussions. I would honestly be shocked if Determine is even in business in the next year!

Hi anonymous, Patrick here, thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I know we know each other, which is why I am so interested in your feedback and thoughts about Determine. Whether you chose to, or were asked to leave, it is too bad things didn’t work out for you at the company. It is unfortunate that you felt it necessary to air your grievances here instead of coming to me or your supervisor or HR - everyone knows our doors are always open. Even so, I would like to take this opportunity to correct the misperceptions you included in your review. For starters, Determine is an entrepreneurial company and professional growth potential is wide open for those who are ambitious, creative and smart - like your former colleagues who are still here. As you would have seen during each of our monthly Town Hall meetings, we promote numerous people regularly across all areas of the company. That's why I am shocked that you feel there is a culture ill will or “backstabbing” here; perhaps you had a bad experience or personality conflict with someone? During my frequent walks around the office, I wish you would have said something about it all those times I stopped by your desk to say hello.; Or brought it up with your supervisor or HR. Determine strives to create a collegial environment in the office, and close teamwork is a hallmark of our culture. I’m equally perplexed by your impressions of me and the executive team. If you find me too enthusiastic about our company and our products, it’s because they’re worth bragging about. Our investors, customers and analysts think so, too — if I’m not in the office, you'll find me visiting them across global locations. Your remark about the executive team is so interesting because everyone in senior management is held accountable by our Board of Directors. As a publicly-traded company on Nasdaq (Symbol: DTRM), everything you need to know about what goes on here is on the public record. Again, I am sorry you didn’t take the time to come my office to discuss your concerns, talk about the business, our market approach, and maybe learn about how the company operates, how business operates, as well as maybe better understand our long-term growth strategy. For everyone else reading this, like “anonymous” I also enthusiastically encourage you to do your research on me or the management team of any company you are interested in joining, including Determine. That’s just Job Hunting 101. In fact, if there is anything you would like to know or ask, feel free to reach out to me at any time: pstakenas@determine.com. Be well and best wishes to your future successes.

Literally all of the positive reviews are fake

Pros

There are exactly two good reasons to work at Determine. 1. You are a friend of one of the execs and get hired for an exec role with an outsized comp package and excessive, unnecessary travel. Don't worry, you won't be held accountable for huge losses, fleeing clients, employee turnover, or general dysfunction. 2. You are yourself not particularly competent or interested in personal or professional growth, and are content doing the bare minimum and collecting a below market paycheck while trying to avoid the notice of incompetent management.

Cons

It almost goes without saying, but the rave 5-star reviews are fake, written and posted by or at the behest of management. You'll notice uncanny similarities in the glowing praise for the "opportunities for career advancement" and management that "really gets it," the starry-eyed faith in the company's direction, and the attempts in the Cons section to write off the negative reviews as coming from lazy former employees who "quit becuase they dont like the pressure of having to work hard and perforrm." At best, this "business" is essentially a scam the executives are running on a few bafflingly credulous investors, the largest of whom recently died, hopefully affording him some respite from the pain of contemplating the millions of dollars he lost on many inexplicable investments in Determine. The only ones who benefit are the executives collecting generous comp packages as a reward for racking up huge losses and losing clients quarter after quarter. At worst, the point of the business may be to lose money. I won't say much more, but there aren't many aboveboard reasons for a business and its investors to be this apparently content losing money. If you have even the faintest modicum of respect for yourself, avoid employment here like your life depends on it.

Pros

You learn what *not* to do to be successful as a company.

Cons

Everything else. No one listens to employees, customers, or the market. The only one who seems to have any real power is the chief product officer, who has spent the last few years building a "revolutionary" product that has customers running for the hills. They've officially been de-listed from the Nasdaq. I saw this coming from a mile away, which is why I jumped ship years ago. The CPO is obsessed with this "new" platform, which is actually just a slight modification of his more-than-decade-old, homemade PHP monstrosity that even outsourced engineering hacks won't touch. The only profitable part of the business was Iasta, but within two years of that acquisition, they had either fired or chased off all of that talent. They were *actually* working on a brand new piece of technology that would have made customers' lives easier. Unfortunately, the CPO's ego got in the way of that, and the CEO's obliviousness and ignorance promoted the behavior. Add in a bumbling, useless CIO and you have Determine as it exists today. From talking with current and former employees, the CEO is absolutely not interested in listening to anyone's opinions. Don't believe the novels he writes in responses to other reviews on here. I know from personal experience that any opinions differing from his or the CPO's might as well be written on feces-smeared, crumpled pieces of paper at the bottom of a burn pile. Don't just take my word for it... their performance over the past few years is evidence enough.
