Cons

After completing my MBA, I got this job through my college placement cell. I was hired in the Sales Department. The company organizes events and claims to act as a marketplace for schools and sellers. My role was to bring sellers to these events, but the experience turned out to be far from what was promised. The management structure is completely chaotic. There is just one manager, and everyone reports directly to him. It operates like a classic Lala company, with no professionalism or structure. Training was non-existent. Instead of proper onboarding, we were given a brief, vague explanation of how the company organizes events and a basic list of competitors. For sales employees, the situation was even worse. Most of the team already had personal connections with sellers, and within just 1-2 days, all the event stalls were sold out. As a new hire, I was left to struggle on my own, expected to generate leads and sell stalls without any support. The process for onboarding sellers was so unnecessarily complex that even interested sellers would lose patience. It felt like the company deliberately set us up to fail. In reality, the events are dominated by pre-arranged sellers, making it nearly impossible for a new salesperson to close any deals. The work culture is the worst I have ever experienced. The CEO introduced a draconian "Challan Policy", tied to an absurd list of 42 KPIs. Missing even one KPI would result in a ₹800 deduction from your salary. Tasks were assigned with constant threats of a challan if the work wasn’t completed to their liking. There was no limit to these deductions—they were imposed arbitrarily whenever the CEO was angry or upset, often for reasons completely unrelated to work. The lack of any accountability for these deductions made the policy feel more like harassment than a legitimate performance tool. The CEO hired two office boys, one of whom was tasked solely with observing employees and reporting anyone seen not working for more than five minutes. This office boy would also track the number and duration of breaks taken by employees. If anyone took more than 2-3 breaks—even as short as five minutes—they would receive a challan. It felt like working under live surveillance, with zero trust or respect for employees. There was no punch-in or punch-out system, but if an employee arrived even one minute late, they would receive a "late-coming challan." Meanwhile, employees were often forced to work extra hours with no additional pay, and working on Sundays was encouraged and even praised by the CEO. These extra hours were only rewarded occasionally with "positive challans," which were extremely rare. This system of penalties and arbitrary rewards was horrible and unethical, treating employees like machines. The CEO would conduct frequent meetings where employees were grilled with questions, especially about competitors. If anyone failed to answer a question, they were issued a challan. These meetings were often filled with rage and loud shouting from the CEO, creating a toxic and hostile environment. All my peers in the company advised me to keep looking for other opportunities because there is no career growth here. Many employees in sales had tried to leave but ended up returning because of their long-term connections, which made sales easier for them. However, for someone new, the lack of growth and toxic culture makes this company a dead end. Additionally, people from technical backgrounds should avoid this company entirely. In the name of IT, employees were made to work on social media and graphics tasks only—far from what they were qualified for. Interns were also exploited under six-month contracts, forced to work as full-time employees. The CEO treated interns as a cheap alternative to regular staff. When I attempted to resign, I received intense verbal abuse and threats from the CEO. He yelled at me, claiming I would never secure another job and accused past employees who left of still struggling in their careers. He went as far as making degrading remarks, saying I lacked intelligence and that the salary I was given was far beyond my worth. His sole intention was to crush my morale, insult my capabilities, and humiliate me, making the entire experience even more toxic and mentally draining. I understand that this review might sound like a fresher complaining about their first corporate experience, but trust me, this is not the case. The work environment and culture at this company are genuinely toxic, and there is absolutely no room for growth. Working here was a complete waste of time and energy. The constant micromanagement, unethical policies, and lack of respect for employees severely impacted my mental health. I even requested my college to block this company from participating in future placements, as no student deserves to go through such an experience.
