Pros

As a college student, who has worked in the automotive aftermarket since high school, it is a decent place to keep up to speed on the business. Generally work around my school schedule, and are lenient with conflicts. I am an engineering student, at the senior level, so I have lots of project meetings to attend. Rewarding to help people in need The pay is ok, but it has stalled after 5 years, because I am at max for my position without the ability to move up in position.

Cons

Constantly short staffed The ignite system is a joke, it is a good way to get rid of very good employees. Worse yet, because of that, it has promoted the hiring of ill-qualified candidates. Ignite has also made it more stressful for employees who can't control everything. For instance, if I originally sold a remanufactured caliper, and it locks up, the return is taken out of my numbers. Rental tools being taken out of your sales figures is a joke as well. The district leaders, very seldom IF EVER, have a clue about the "front lines" of working in a store. As en engineer I have to understand how P&L works, it blows me away how many store level, upper level management members are lost in that subject. The overall hiring process now days is a joke. I work next to people who absolutely have no idea about the parts business, or vehicles in general. I have been with the company for 5+ years now, and did not get my "five year appreciation" plaque I had been looking forward to. Doesn't sound like much, but it meant something to me to hang that on my wall. I never got it, and WONT be getting it either because I was put in the system as "seasonal", despite working nearly full-time for five years (35+ hours/week). How is it a company this large doesn't keep up with hours worked?

Pros

A lot of schedule flexibility

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism/bad management, especially in the DC that I work in. (DC-41)

Pros

It’s a pretty easy job, very fun people to work with. Hours as a driver are pretty consistent.

Cons

The pay isn’t great. It would be nice if the drivers were making at least $17 or $18 an hour. Also benefits don’t extend to health insurance only dental and vision if you are only considered part-time. Anybody that isn’t the GM, CPP, and RPP are considered part-time, regardless of the hours you get.
