The biggest con: everyone now has to come into the office five days a week.
*I'm posting this as a warning to anyone who's thinking about coming to work at Bandwidth: what matters is not your ability to work, but your ability to come into the office.*
Employees were given one month's notice that we have to come back into the office for five days a week. We were told this is something we should have expected – Bandwidth is building a new campus that's supposed to open summer 2023 – so obviously they'd want us to come back into the office right now (even after being told in hiring interviews that we'd be able to stick to a hybrid schedule).
The way this situation has been handled is hugely disappointing. I enjoy Bandwidth, but I'm here to work, get paid, and have benefits – not to have a loving (read: toxic) work family.
The CEO does not care that decision will make people leave. He's made that abundantly clear. It's even more disappointing that this is the second time he's done this (everyone had to come back into the office in 2021), and we lost so much talent then, we're still trying to recover.
