Pros
Health care, 90 minute lunch, overall fun crowd.
Cons
There is a lot going on here. As mentioned in a lot of the recent reviews, people are saying the same things but I don't see any real change here. I came to Bandwidth in 2019 and thought it was going to be somewhere I would retire. As my first corporate experience everything was great at first. A fun crowd, long lunch, and good benefits. These things quickly became obsolete. I was barely making ends means with a well below average salary for this area and market. That has not changed. The real issue was when Covid hit. We all went home and work continued. In June of 2020 the CEO got on an all hands meeting was boasted about how the Bandwidth office truly never closed and people should come on back for free lunch. Mind you vaccines were not even developed at this point. We heard this message for month. It put managers in an awkward spot because no one wanted to go to the office but yet they had to talk about it. Later in 2020 people started going back in and multiple times a week we would get an email about positive cases from people in the office. The same theme continued throughout 2021. There was no vaccine or mask policy in office, so you wonder why people were getting sick. It was all about in person work. Around this time last year with Covid very much so still in the picture an office mandate was put in place. This was met with a ton of backlash leading to Morken saying if people didn't want to abide by this, they can find another job. Which plenty of people said okay and left on short notice, leaving the company to scramble. These were not just entry level people looking for an easy way out. These were directors, VPs, and C level career employees who said it's not worth it. They didn't want to play David Morken's game anymore. He backed off and we went hybrid. Things were starting to look up through 2022 until now. Morken simply can't shake the in office thing. He again has stated that if people don't want to be in office then they can go somewhere else. This is absolutely mind blowing to me, why David Morken is so obsessed with being in the office. He is all about the strong Christian family values, but yet wants people to be away from their families for up to 10 hours a day (if you factor in commute)?? I understand there is a fancy new office being built and you want butts in seats. But that is simply not corporate America anymore. If we've learned anything, work is getting done and done well while at home. People are happier because they have flexibility in the day. So many of my co workers are interviewing or getting ready to leave for other companies for remote work alone. Some are planning to just leave with no plan because what Morken is asking is just no worth it. It is not worth the low salary, gas money, and boring office, just to be in person again. The promise of flexibility is not clear so don't let people fool you with that. For those of you looking at a job with Bandwidth, go somewhere else for the sake of your own time. All these random 5 star reviews are not legit. If they are real, they are from the sales department. All of the money and attention gets put into sales. If you are not in sales than you get pushed to the side.
